Art In Voyage takes you Beyond Travel on this South Africa Culinary journey to the south Hemisphere. Did you know the country boasts one of the best cuisine, and wines, in the world? On this culinary journey, both our Executive Chef Kevin Fonzo and our Wine Expert Katie Barratt take you on a feast of the senses.

In Cape Town, we have put together a balanced program of culture, history and culinary delights. Located half-way between Europe and India, Cape Town has a long history of trading spices from the far east. As a result, incredible culinary creations and traditions ensued.

We will introduce you to local traditional markets and chefs. Coming from all over the world, many have made Cape Town their home. As a result, they bring their own flavors and interpretations to the table, for your pleasure. In the winelands, you will discover a wine industry to be reckoned with. South African has some of the oldest estates in the world, many starting production in 1659. Surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and housed in traditional Dutch colonial farms, wineries offer connoisseurs incredible palate experiences.

Our journey continues through the garden route and the coastal towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. There, a cooler climate prevails. This translates into fantastic sea food and stunning white ones.

We conclude this epic experience in Kruger National Park where the wildlife roams freely over land covering the same surface area as Belgium. There, we offer you to hit crescendo with a unique Glamping experience, complete with two game drives a day and three incredible meals a day. We will introduce you to some of the most memorable sundowners just before enjoying game-meat culinary feasts in the bush.

On this South Africa Culinary journey, be ready for your palates to experience the other side of Africa.

A Country of Contrasts

But what else do you call a place where you could happily slalom between penguins waddling on the Cape and lions stalking the bushveld, cinematic coastal switchbacks and burnt Kalahari sand, the oldest wine industry outside Europe and cutting edge fusion cuisine?

Cape Town, always first!

You really can’t overstate the case for visiting Cape Town. First, there’s the in-your-face beauty of a craggy mountain range that drops precipitously into a glittering sea, its flanks carpeted in green. Then there’s the pristine white beaches lapped by – it must be said – a chilly Atlantic, their curves defined by giant granite boulders to bake on, and burbling mountain streams in dappled forests.

The Big Five of course

That's lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and rhino, in case you weren't sure. And then there's hippo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, meerkats, wild dogs, kudu, hyena and ostrich. All free-roaming in one national park, where luxury tenting awaits!

And then there is the wine!

There are more than 200 cellars in Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, all part of the Winelands region (15-45 minutes away from Cape Town). There, you can also explore art galleries, sip more wine and sample local dishes in gracious Cape Dutch estates

All activities are optional in attendance

Day 1: Welcome to Cape Town

After being transferred to your villa by our private driver, get acquainted with your home for the next 4 nights. Late afternoon, join us for a cocktail in the garden followed by a welcome dinner prepared, and hosted by Chef Fonzo and our favorite local Chef, Preeti.

Day 2: Cape Town: Bo Kaap - Table Mountain

This morning, we start with a 2-hour walking tour of Cape Town and its most historical sites. On the way, we introduce you to local food artisans, giving you a chance to try local specialties. Our next stop is Bo Kaap, the ancient Muslim slave district of Cape town, famous around the world for its colorful homes. After a tour of the spice market, our local chef introduces you to her Cape Malay cuisine. We close the day with a lovely cable car ride to Table Mountain where you get a 360 degree view of the Cape Peninsula. Dinner tonight is served back at the villa, with local wines, carefully selected by the Wine Fairy

Day 3: The markets and the winelands

After a slow start of the morning and a lovely traditional breakfast, we head to Woodstock and the Biscuit Mills Market where you are introduced to more incredible food and local specialties. We then continue our journey towards the Winelands, where we have lunch at one of the local wine estates, along with a visit of the cellars and tastings. The afternoon includes a stop at yet another incredible winery where some of the world's best brandy is being produced. Our long yet exciting day ends with dinner at one of our favorite farm-to-table restaurants.

Day 4: Cape Peninsula - Cape of Good Hope

A visit to Cape Town would not be complete without a day traveling around the Peninsula for some of the most incredible coastal scenery in the world. Our journey starts with a stop at the Cape of Good Hope, said to the the most southern point in Africa. We then continue to the Penguin colony, where we are given a chance to walk among them. We end the day in the eclectic town of Kaulk Bay before heading back to our villa where Chefs Preeti and Kevin re-unite for yet another incredible mouthwatering experience. Guests are invited to join, with a glass of bubbly, and participate in the making of dinner. In the meantime, the Wine Fairy prepares a selection of lovely wines to be enjoyed during dinner.

Day 5: The Garden Route & Wilderness

This morning, we must bid farewell to Cape Town and start our journey towards the coast. Our journey, while long, will have us stop at local farms where fruits and vegetables are grown among incredible scenery. There is a reason it is called the "Garden Route", and we aim at showing you some of the best stops along the way, including wineries producing something quite different thanks to the local micro-climate. Our arrival on the coast is celebrated with a lovely dinner prepared by celebrated local chef Lizelle Stolze

Day 6: Knysna and Plettenberg Bay

Enjoy a morning at leisure. Just before lunch, we head out to Plettenberg bay we are expected at a local seafood restaurant for a lovely lunch and a conversation with the Chef. We then continue with a visit of a local farm where some of South Africa's best cheese is being produced. On the way back, we stop by Knysna for a sunset cruise in, followed by dinner focused on locally grown products.

Day 7: Wilderness

Today, we have kept the agenda empty. However, Chef Fonzo and The Wine Fairy have several ideas in mind to make your last day on the coast an incredible one. From kayaking the gorges of Tsitsikama forest to trying out local chocolate artisans, from an afternoon of sailing to tasting some of the incredible coastal wines available in the area, this day could be as busy, or as relaxing as you'd like it to be. Tonight, dinner is held at our favorite local eatery.

Day 8: Kruger National Park

Our journey to Kruger National park begins. After a short flight to Kruger, our team greets you and whisks you away to your luxury tented lodge for 3 nights (for the June departure, accommodations will be luxury huts). Your first game drive starts on arrival, followed by a sundowner and a 3-course dinner.
