Traditional and home-style culinary experiences

One recurring theme on our villa-centric journeys is the authenticity of our dinning experiences. Be it at a local trattoria or at home with our chef and his local counterparts. Take part in the making of pasta, tiramisu or just enjoy watching our chef do his magic, prosecco on hand.

So much is included

As for many of our journeys, we have taken some of the worries related to planning and budgeting out, so you may fully enjoy your experience. To that effect, all our tours and excursions as listed on the itinerary are included, as well as over 18 meals. All you have to do now is just show up and let yourself be pampered without worrying about breaking the bank once there.

Culture and history without excess

Discovering Italy also means understanding the local culture and the country's history. Both are quite essential components of the food and wine traditions as well when you think about it. Yet, we also know that too much of it can be..well, too much of it. So we have created a balanced itinerary, inviting you to discover, without excess, Tuscany's traditions, culture and history through the eyes of our local historian-guides.

And the wines, oh the wines!

Let's admit it, this has to be one of the main reasons for journey-ing to Tuscany and tour incredible wine regions, not the least being Chianti, Montepulciano and Brunello. We will certainly make sure to introduce you to some of these fine producers by picking small and less known estates which we have established great relations with, all offering true Italian hospitality (and incredible wines) along the way

All activities are optional in attendance

Day 1: Welcome to Tuscany

Our hosts pick you up at the airport, train station (or hotel) in Florence or Rome. You are whisked away to a local winery where lunch is served before settling down at your home for the next 7 nights. Tonight, Chef Fonzo has prepared a traditional and authentic family style welcome dinner, paired with local wines.

Day 2: Sunday Funday (and cooking class)

Sundays are always better enjoyed relaxing and appreciating your surroundings. So today is at leisure, at the villa. Yet, later this morning, you will be able to enjoy your first cooking class with Chef Fonzo before a tasting lunch is served. This afternoon, enjoy a complimentary massage at the property or grab one of our bikes for a stroll on the hills. Dinner is served at the estate, paired with local wines.

Day 3: Siena & Montepulciano

You are invited to discover the incredible town of Siena with a 2-hour walking tour before enjoying it on your own. After lunch (own account), we depart for famed Montepulciano. On our way back to the estate, we stop for wine tasting at one of our favorite local producers. Dinner is served at the estate, paired with some of the wines discovered during the day.

Day 4: Florence

This morning, we make our way to beautiful Florence where Paolo, our local historian, awaits for a 3-hour walking tour. Lunch and early afternoon at leisure (a private artisan tour may be organized for our guests interested in learning about leather and gold craft). On the way back, we stop at one of our favorite Chianti wineries for a tasting before heading back to the estate where dinner is served.

Day 5: Morning at leisure & Orvieto

Join our Chef to a local food market, or enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure (or you may also use our courtesy vehicle or bikes). Around lunch time, we depart for Orvieto. Not technically in Tuscany, this hilltop town of bordering Umbria, less than one hour away, offers a great insight into the different cultures of the regions, and the historical importance of Italy's powerful church. Tonight is pizza night with Chef Fonzo. Make your own pizza and enjoy it with local wines.

Day 6: Cooking class & Montalcino

After a morning at leisure, we depart for a beautiful wine farm in the Montalcino area where we hold a cooking class with a local Mama. The region produces one of the best wines in the world (Brunello), so it is only fitting that we introduce you to some of the best ones after our lunch. On the way back, we stop by Pienza, small Tuscan town, where we introduce you to the regional cheeses through a tasting. Tonight, dinner is held at estate paired with lovely Montalcino wines.

Day 7: Day at leisure

Today, on this last day, guests are invited to enjoy the property or take advantage of the courtesy car and bikes. Looking to do something unique? Let us set you up for truffle hunting or a vintage car tour of the hilltop villages and wineries. Our farewell dinner is held at the convent of Saint Francis, La Frateria di Padre Eligio (5 minutes away). Sitting in the old prison, where even the gentle Saint Francis put the friars who did not heed the rules, we enjoy fine dishes inspired by the seasons, the fantasy of the chef, the fragrance of the vegetables and the produce of the convent.

Day 8: Take the opportunity to extend your stay

Discover Italy beyond Tuscany. We would be happy to assist in creating your very own customized journey to Venice, Rome, Lake Como, Sicily or anywhere you may find yourself wanting to go to. Ask one of our curators about your options.

Fagetto Estate

The Val d’Orcia is a wonderful area, due to the protection of the natural beauty of its enchanting landscape so much so that it is recognized to its artistic heritage, and for these reasons recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is in this marvelous natural context that Faggeto estate shines. This former convent was recently transformed into a villa of high standard and great charm.

A path lined with old cypress trees leads up to the villa, which is completely fenced and where the noises of the modern world cannot be heard, but where you are simply surrounded by gently rolling green hills and where a real sense of peace and quiet reigns supreme.

The villa offers every comfort: from the pool and the carpet-surfaced tennis court, to the double pool house, complete with sauna and shower and below the pool. All the bedrooms, tastefully decorated and boasting quality linens and towels, come with their own private bathrooms, finished in travertine and local terracota tiles.

This hilly part of south-eastern Tuscany is also famous for its beneficial thermal baths. San Casciano dei Bagni offers a fabulous spa and thermal pools. Cetona is an enchanting Tuscan town with a couple of well-known restaurants and the weekly market well worth a visit. This is the real Tuscan countryside!
