Welcome to Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, centrally located in the heart of Munich. Though now a grand dame of Munich’s hotel scene, during its early years Kempinski Munich was something of a trailblazer of modernity. Opened in 1858 as the Zu den vier Jahreszeiten, it was one of many jewels in a magnificent boulevard that quickly became known as one of the most prestigious addresses in Europe. The hotel’s renowned architect, Wilhelm Gottgetreu, created a structure that combined classicism and Gothic designs with telltale signs this new project was at one with the modern age of industry: running water, gas lights and baths, steam engines in the cellars for hot water and heating.
Major investments for the 1972 Munich Olympics and in the 2000s means this prestigious Munich hotel has 67 superb suites and 230 rooms. It has a highly lauded restaurant, spa and offers just about every service you would need or want.
Set on three-and-a-half acres of garden grounds atop Mönchsberg Mountain, the castle-inspired 5-stars Hotel Schloss Mönchstein is like something out of a fairy tale. Be sure to arrive hungry: In addition to a restaurant that serves Austrian and international fare and an indoor/outdoor orangery with light bites and drinks, the hotel has several private dining rooms, including one nestled in the castle’s tower and dubbed the Smallest Restaurant in the World, as well as a neo-Gothic chamber filled with black-hued antiques. The 24 guest rooms have regal touches like damask-patterned velvet and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in rain showers, and a vast menu of treatments at the on-site spa, including Dermalogica facials and body wraps, are fit for royalty. After a day of pampering, an infinity pool and hot tub offer panoramic views over the city below.
Originally a grand old hotel done up in the tradition of Europe’s swishest ski resorts, today's interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon – the design supremo behind Paris's Four Seasons George V refurbishment – are much more contemporary. The overall theme is deluxe alpine; it feels like a millionaire’s log cabin, with light wood paneling, animal skin rugs and antlers’ horns peppered throughout. The mountain views are arguably the hotel’s most impressive feature. The alpine cabin feel runs throughout the 84 rooms with wooden-paneling, smart mirrors and soft furnishing in large navy or red checks. All the rooms are decently sized with comfortable beds, and bathrooms boasts marble-surrounds.

Special attention has been paid to the historic decorative details, including the plaster work, wood carving, fine parquet flooring and paneling.
