Highlights

A Country of Contrasts

From waddling penguins to stalking lions, and coastlines to bushveld, revel in the unique contrasts that South Africa boasts. A mere one-hour drive takes you from the vibrant city center of Cape Town to the lush, mountainous Cape Winelands region. Experience the oldest wine industry outside of Europe, and fusion cuisine all in one country. Join us in discovering the diversity of landscapes, people, cuisine and culture within South Africa.

Cape Town, First!

Picture a craggy mountain range peppered with green, that drops into the cool Atlantic ocean. Envisage pristine white sand beaches, lapped by the Atlantic, and adorned with giant granite boulders. Visualize forests dappled with burbling streams, and lofty trees. Your Art In Voyage hosts share with you their hidden-gem discoveries around Cape Town as well as the more known of must-sees such as colorful Bo Kaap and the majestic Table Mountain.

The Big Five

Roaming in one national park, you will spot an incredible variety of wildlife. Embark on thrilling game drives through the Kruger National Park tracking down The Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo), hippo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, meerkat, kudu, hyena, and ostrich, just to name a few. Nestled in the bushveld, your luxurious private tented camp awaits you with a welcoming ambiance.

And then there is the Wine!

There are more than 150 cellars in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, both part of the Cape Winelands region (45 minutes away from Cape Town). Franschhoek, meaning “French Corner”, will impress you with not only superb wines, but also some of the finest art galleries in South Africa, gracious Cape Dutch estates, and exquisite cuisine.

Steeped in history dating back to 1692, Lanzerac Wine Estate is a historic landmark and Stellenbosch icon. The grande dame is synonymous with old-world charm and rich Cape heritage. Positioned in the idyllic Jonkershoek Valley on the outskirts of the historical town of Stellenbosch, the Estate boasts views of dramatic mountain ranges, endless rows of lush vineyards, and hectares of gardens shaded by giant Oak trees. The homestead was transformed into a manor house in 1959 – reminiscent of the traditional French way of fusing a country hotel and wine estate. Today the iconic property hosts an elegant five-star Country hotel, acclaimed bars, restaurants, and Deli, a remarkable tasting venue, and a chic day spa.
On arrival at this 326-year-old working wine estate on the outskirts of historic Stellenbosch, visitors will be received in the elegant Governor’s Hall.
The hotel has 53 exquisitely styled rooms or suites, all of which reflect the rich history of the Estate, but with contemporary influences carefully blended in. Space and privacy are inherent.

Hamiltons Tented Camp is a special well-kept secret in the Mluwati concession in Kruger National Park; offering you a colonial style safari experience within luxurious tented lodgings.

This romantic Kruger Park camp accommodates couples in 6 magnificently appointed safari tents overlooking the N'watswitsonto River. The main tent is an impressive structure. Elegant lines and an open sided lounge and dining area opening onto a wide, spacious deck shaded by huge Jackalberry trees overlooking the dry river bed. It is comfortably furnished and accentuated with antiques and 19th century objects d'art, creating a feeling of having traveled back in time.

Arguably one of the main attractions of this location is the prevalence of Africa’s “Big Five”. The highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the guided Safari drives where the local ranger will introduce you to a selection of wildlife and birdlife that call this area home. On these informative excursions, you will be exposed to animals such as lions, giraffes, leopards and hyenas in their natural habitat and be afforded the opportunity to capture these moments from only meters away!

Being completely remote and far away from the crowds, this is the one place where you can get away from it all with a total sense of tranquility.

Everything was 5 stars… accommodations, food, excursions & the hosting people throughout our entire travels. This was a journey of a lifetime in the most comfortable, fun, educational & a-a-amazing fashion. This was our first journey with Art In Voyage and will not be our last. We plan on filling up some travels with more family & friends. I never thought I would enjoy a “group” travel, but being small & intimate was absolutely perfect, meeting some new forever friends. Thank you, thank you, Mikael!! XOXO

SOUTH AFRICA AT A GLANCE
Quote

Robin

We recently returned from our “South Africa at a Glance” journey with AIV. It truly was a trip of a lifetime – one that we’ve been planning with AIV since 2020. The AIV team really  worked with us to make this trip a reality as soon as we could safely travel post-pandemic. Our guides in South Africa were experts in their fields – special shout out to “The Wine Fairy”! All the wineries, tastings and restaurants chosen for us were superb. South Africa is a beautiful place and the name of this journey is “At a Glance” means we hit the highlights and hope to return one day with AIV and experience South Africa in depth. We also added the Victoria Falls extension and it was amazing! All transfers in Africa were taken care of for us by AIV. We definitely recommend adding the extension.

We just returned from our trip to Dubai and South Africa that we have patiently been waiting for since 2020! We had an amazing time and AIV was top notch on all Tours, Meals, Lodging  and Transfers. Our driver in SA was wonderful and Katie the Wine Fairy knows her wines, which we really valued. We can’t wait for our next adventure with AIV! Thank you so much.
