Our two chefs turned hosts and best friends on this 9-day journey are excited to welcome you to Bali, which both have discovered and fallen in love with.
On this journey, we focus on the cuisine of the Balinese people as well as the introduction to spices into their lives, and culture. An excellent mix of culinary, cultural, and adventurous experiences throughout the region of Ubud, and the Komodo islands. We have designed (often from scratch) the perfect cooking classes along the way, as well as privately guided experiences to the heart of the Indonesian culture, their traditions, and their way of life. We are not forgetting downtime by introducing optional tours and activities appealing to the various personal interests of all our guests.
Our hosts and local partners will make sure you leave Indonesia, and Bali in particular, wanting to come back for more.
In additional to the spiritual ways of Bali, you will discover the incredible properties of hundreds of difference spices and herbs available in Indonesia. Our local chefs will teach you their use and their properties, while you will get to enjoy hands-on cooking and farming experiences.
Incredible culinary experience would not be complete without the rejuvenating powers of Balinese massages and meditation. We have created a well balance itinerary to incorporate these elements which complement the incredible benefits of local and traditional foods.
In Bali, experience a culture where outright anger leads to a loss of respect from the community, where life rotates around religious ceremonies, dances and temples and where upholding traditions is very much part of their upbringing and entrenched in society. Discover a way of life where taking the time to enjoy the moment is very much at the forefront.
Attending a small curated journey by Art In Voyage is always a chance to grow your circle of friends. But in Bali, you will find that circle quickly expand to the friendly and outgoing locals, always eager to welcome you into their hearts, and into their homes.
After a private transfer from the airport, you are greeted at your home for the next 5 nights, and treated to a massage and pampering afternoon. Tonight, our Balinese chef has prepared an authentic and traditional dinner for us.
This morning, we make our way to a local market where our local chef introduces us to an incredible variety of spices, vegetables and fruits that will be used on today's cooking class. On arrival at Alila Ubud, we are set-up in their vegetable garden where we hold a fun and interactive class. As we uncover the secrets of spices, their professional bartender introduces us to Mixology using these very same spices. Upon returning at the property, a massage await.
Tonight, dinner is served at the property and prepared by our local chef.
Today, we live the life of a rice farmer. We first make our way to paddies and fields where we gear up to plan and harvest rice. A true and authentic experience, this is also a great way to learn about this sometimes tedious task. After a picnic lunch overlooking incredible paddies, we make our way to a Luwak coffee production facility where we learn about the most expensive coffee in the world.
We get home where a relaxing massage awaits, before heading out to a Michelin Star level eatery in the heart of Ubud. There, we enjoy an 8-course tasting dinner in their private kitchen.
Bali offers so many incredible activities, and today we want you to have a chance to step away from the culinary vibe to enjoy them. Today, choose from biking, volcano hiking or white water rafting, all included. Or simply wander the local artisan markets of Ubud.
Interested in meditation and spirituality? let us set up a special experience complete with water purification.
Tonight, we hold a cooking class at our property before dinner is served.
On our last morning in Ubud, we begin our day in paradise with a breakfast served in an infinity pool at one of the most prestigious resorts. The floating breakfast comes on a beautifully designed wooden boat decked out with your favorite treats complete with a bottle of sparkling wine. We then board a hot air balloon for a scenic flight over the jungle and the river. After getting back on solid ground, we make our way to an organic farm where we hold another cooking class and lunch. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
This morning, we make our way to the airport where we catch a one-hour flight for the Komodo Islands, our next destination, set to be beach and water oriented. We make our grand entrance on our very own private island by private boat. A light lunch is followed by a massage. Rest of your day at leisure.
Tonight, dinner is at your leisure (yet included) at the property.
Today, we have packed fun adventures and encounters. We first start with a hike to Manta Point for incredible views. We continue with a ranger-led trek to meet the local "dragons" and learn about their habitat. It is followed by a picnic on the pink sand beach and an afternoon snorkeling the rich waters of the surrounding islands.
Dinner is served at the restaurant where we are introduced to some of the local sea foods through a tasting dinner overlooking the bay.
On this last day in Indonesia, enjoy some of the complimentary activities at the resort (including some incredible snorkeling off the beach), have one of your complimentary massages or allow our concierge to schedule scuba diving, cruising, hiking and much more.
Late afternoon, we hold one last cooking class overlooking the crystal clear waters of the lagoon.
We then enjoy our farewell dinner on the beach, barefoot in the white sand, which turns into an incredible star gazing experience.
You will likely have a whole extra day to enjoy the amenities at the property. Mid- to late afternoon, you are escorted by private boat to the airport where you catch a flight to Jakarta or Bali, and continue onto your international journey. Eager to extend your stay in Indonesia or beyond? Let us assist.
