Art In Voyage takes you Beyond Travel on this Culinary Journey of South Africa. Did you know that the country boasts one of the best cuisines and wines in the world? On this culinary journey, both our Executive Chef Kevin Fonzo and our Wine Expert, Katie Barratt (Wine Fairy) take you on a true feast of the senses. In Cape Town, we have designed a balanced program of culture, history, and culinary delights. The melting pot of cultures in Cape Town has culminated into a flavorful and diverse food scene, for your pleasure.

A mere one-hour drive takes you from the vibrant city center of Cape Town to the lush, mountainous Cape Winelands region. Experience the oldest wine industry outside of Europe, and fusion cuisine all in one country. Join us in discovering the diversity of landscapes, people, cuisine, and culture within South Africa.

Cape Town, Always First

Picture a craggy mountain range peppered with green, that drops into the cool Atlantic ocean. Envisage pristine white sand beaches, lapped by the Atlantic, and adorned with giant granite boulders. Visualize forests dappled with burbling streams, and lofty trees. Your Art In Voyage hosts share with you their hidden-gem discoveries around Cape Town as well as the more known of must-sees such as colorful Bo Kaap and the majestic Table Mountain.

The Big Five, Of Course

Roaming in one area, you will spot an incredible variety of wildlife. Embark on thrilling game drives through the Kruger National Park tracking down The Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo), hippo, giraffe, and zebra, just to name a few. Nestled in the bushveld, your luxurious private tented camp awaits you with a welcoming ambiance.

And then there is the Wine!

There are more than 150 cellars in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, both part of the Cape Winelands region (45 minutes away from Cape Town). Franschhoek, meaning “French Corner”, will impress you with not only superb wines, but also some of the finest art galleries in South Africa, gracious Cape Dutch estates, and exquisite cuisine.

During the last 329 years, the estate had many ups and downs with various owners. It is believed that the first Sunday trading in the Cape colony, took place at Vrede en Lust, due to the first protestant church which was built on the estate. Vrede en Lust had always been a wine farm and current vineyards reflect the plantings of 1745. On 3 October 1996, a brand-new era was beckoning in the history of this extraordinary farm, Vrede en Lust Estate, when the Buys family became the new owners.

The Residence, Vrede en Lust is a Luxury Villa in the Winelands, Franschhoek, and it is a 6 bedroom all en-suite villa.
The fully serviced and elegantly designed villa is ideal for families or parties traveling together. Multiple contemporary indoor and outdoor entertainment areas. Set in a private 3Ha/7.5 acre part of the estate with top security.

Hamiltons Tented Camp is a special well-kept secret in the Mluwati concession in Kruger National Park; offering you a colonial style safari experience within luxurious tented lodgings.

This romantic Kruger Park camp accommodates couples in 6 magnificently appointed safari tents overlooking the N'watswitsonto River. The main tent is an impressive structure. Elegant lines and an open sided lounge and dining area opening onto a wide, spacious deck shaded by huge Jackalberry trees overlooking the dry river bed. It is comfortably furnished and accentuated with antiques and 19th century objects d'art, creating a feeling of having traveled back in time.

Arguably one of the main attractions of this location is the prevalence of Africa’s “Big Five”. The highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the guided Safari drives where the local ranger will introduce you to a selection of wildlife and birdlife that call this area home. On these informative excursions, you will be exposed to animals such as lions, giraffes, leopards and hyenas in their natural habitat and be afforded the opportunity to capture these moments from only meters away!

Being completely remote and far away from the crowds, this is the one place where you can get away from it all with a total sense of tranquility.

Traveling with the Art In Voyage team makes everything effortless and amazing. I was a bit concerned about the long flight to S. Africa, but I’m so happy I decided to go. It was awe inspiring and life-changing. It actually felt like we had three mini trips… Cape Town, the winelands, and then a safari. Also, I ended out shattering my ankle on Safari… Totally my fault. The Art In Voyage team worked endlessly to ensure my flight home was as comfortable and short as possible. I don’t know how it would’ve gotten home without them. This is my fifth trip with them. As soon as my ankle heals, I will be off on my next adventure Art in Voyage. They are truly unique and special travel company.

Taste of South Africa/Feb 2024 was my first trip with Art in Voyage. I’m in the luxury leisure travel business so know a quality product when I experience it and THIS is THAT in spades! The destination speaks for itself, but the secret sauce are the guides that Mikael brings to the experience – Chef Kevin Fonzo & the Wine Fairy Katie Barratt elevate the experience with their engaging personalities and depth of knowledge which they are so passionate about sharing. Our guide at Kruger National Park, Hali, must be a one of South Africa‘s national treasures. What an amazing 3 days exploring the park and seeing the Big 5 + with his experienced tracking and huge contagious smile. Ahighlight of this trip was the Ithemba Youth Choir performing for us at our Cape Town seaside villa on our final night there. Such a special experience. Art in Voyage staff are exemplary in their attention to every detail. Highly recommend for a unique small group experience of superb quality.
