Upon entering the region of Latvia, we are welcomed with exuberant forests, distant lakes, and mystical wetlands that can take you back to ancient times. Upon our late-afternoon arrival in Riga, we introduce you to the traditional cuisine at one of our favorite eateries. Throughout the day, we become acquainted with local foods, markets, historical sites, breweries, and Latvian architecture. Spend this morning as you wish, or we can make recommendations for further explorations of the many historical sites and museums. Afterward, we depart for Jurmala, an idyllic seaside location, where we enjoy a lazy picnic on the dunes and exploration of the quaint beach town. For guests interested in meandering through nature, we will arrange transport to the tranquil Kemeri National Park. Late-afternoon, we wind down with an intimate river cruise that is complete with champagne and cocktails. A scrumptious dinner will be served on board before we return to Riga at around 9PM.
Should you decide to end your Baltics journey in St Petersburg, you will be transferred to the airport to board a flight to Russia. After settling into our beautiful property, a revitalizing and leisurely lunch await. We then embark on a private walking tour of St Petersburg, ending with a visit to the Hermitage Museum. The Hermitage is the second-largest art museum in the world and home to the Winter Palace, a former residence of the Russian Royal family. As the day draws to a close, we head to a sophisticated Caviar Bar for caviar and vodka tastings. As night falls, we dine at one of our favorite Michelin-starred restaurants.
Should you decide to end your Baltics journey in Stockholm, you will be transferred to the airport to board a flight to Sweden. Upon arrival, you will be whisked away to your luxurious accommodation. After settling in, we embark on a private walking tour of Stockholm, known as the “Venice of the North”. Marvel at the impressive harbourside elegance and enjoy a delightful lunch in the famous Djurgarden Park. The day ends with 'Fika' or afternoon tea, a Stockholm ritual. Our hosts will gladly make recommendations for your leisurely evening.
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off by ferry to Peterhof, a compound of palaces and gardens commissioned by Peter the Great in response to the French Versailles. The immaculate gardens are renowned for their system of fountains, designed to playfully splash unsuspecting guests. Afterward, we enjoy lunch at the highly-rated Tractir Hlebnikov, a local restaurant that serves traditional Russian cuisine. We then venture to Pushkin to visit Catherine’s Palace and the famous Amber Room. In the evening, tickets to a traditional Russian Ballet at the Merensky Theatre will be available or relax over dinner on one of the local river cruises.
Stockholm boasts centuries of history, and because of this, we continue our private tour of the city throughout the morning. We will also sample the local cuisine with a multitude of food tastings. After our city adventures, we embark on a journey to the Gamla Stan district where we behold the magnificent Royal Palace and enjoy a lunch at one of the chic Nordic eateries. We then travel to the nearby Lovo Island where we explore the unique Drottningholm Palace. In the evening, delight in your farewell dinner at famed Oaxen Krog, a Michelin-starred restaurant.
