A Relais & Chateaux property, beautifully illustrated by the variety of local delicacies available in the restaurant surrounded by the whitewashed walls of the mansion, it specializes in wine and olive oil. The nose knows, and none more so than those of dogs in pursuit of truffles. Meet this purpose-bred version of man’s best friend, and join those hounds on their crusade. Once the treasure has been found, we dive into the uses of this, the true black gold. A stop at two of the local wineries precedes dinner which, at your leisure and choice, could be enjoying a romantic dinner on the grounds of the estate, nestled snuggly in the greens of the vineyard. Alternatively, use that keen sense of direction learned from the truffle-centric dogs to head down to the quiet cobblestone town of Bale for a mouth-watering bite or two at its eateries.
Groznjan is next on our bucket list of culinary wonders. During World War II, the residents of this charming town fled, leaving the cobbled stones eerily quiet, the labyrinth of lanes craving the gentle hum of creativity. The call was answered by the bohemian artists, evident by the range of galleries around every corner. Next we visit a 600-year-old olive mill, now a renowned Toklarija Restaurant, championed by eccentric chef and owner Nevio Sirotic. We are treated to a 6-course, slow-cooked lunch. Unsullied by new age fads, this is a true taste of the culinary history. Culminating in the seaside town of Rovinj, a gentle stroll, cocktails and reflection are in order. Fabled utopia or an authentic gem, you be the judge.
Goodbye to Istria but hello to another veiled beauty. After a scenic journey through the countryside, traversing through the spectacular island flora and fauna by ferry and car, we arrive at our destination, Losinj. To ease you into the Island lifestyle, we have organized a private spa treatment at our residence, Villa Alhambra. Take time to choose from the extensive options offered by the Villa to soothe you into a state of nirvana for the aptly named ‘Island of Vitality’. There are a variety of dinner options at restaurants in Villa Alhambra. If you favor a walk, a pathway along the creek will provide further selections for dinner.
In the morning we are joined by Chef Fonzo as well as one of the local Chefs from Villa Alhambra, for a unique experience at a family-owned farm specializing in vegetable production. We visit the town's fish market, where we pick up ingredients to be used for today's cooking class. After lunch, the day is yours to do with as you please. Let us organize tours and activities, or take advantage of the property's bikes, paddle-board in the bay of Cikat, or simply relax by the pool. Tonight, we travel to the highest point on the island for a lovely sundowner, before we dine at the property, pairing the meal with local and Italian wines
After a lazy morning of yoga, paddle boarding, massage or simply sleeping in, it’s off for a tour of the island on our private yacht. Gliding through the tranquil Adriatic landscape, hoping to be greeted by some of the local marine life ranging from bottlenose dolphins to loggerhead turtles, we will stop to indulge ourselves with a few leisurely dips in the water along the way. The translucent turquoise waters will pass us by as we casually sip on bubbly and wine, before stopping for lunch on one of the out-of-the-way spots of pristine coastline. After lunch, the island is yours to explore. Take a peaceful ride on one of the many bike routes to the watch the sunset at the wide variety of eateries, or a private romantic dinner at the property’s gourmet restaurant.
Leaving the Island behind this morning, we take a short private flight to Zandar. Once there, our driver will be waiting to transport us to our next stop, Dubrovnik. Our journey will take us briefly into Bosnia & Herzegovina, which splits Croatia in two. Passing by the greens and blues of the countryside, interspersed with the odd sleepy town, our destination will reveal itself as the plunging cliffs topped with medieval designs burst into view. After arriving at our grandeur residence this afternoon, a walking tour of the city, led by one of the local guides, will ensue. This will form a perfect knowledge base for you to explore the city’s architecture and dining spots at your leisure this evening.
Oysters, wine, and coastal charm. Need we say more? We head out to the Pelješac Peninsula, the second largest in Croatia, to explore and enjoy the history, culture, and cuisine hidden in its depths. This journey of discovery leads us to the seaside town of Ston, and our first pearl on the necklace of wealth awaiting us today, Oysters. A town renowned for this alleged aphrodisiac, it will serve as the ocean’s aperitif for the seafood lunch served to us at one of the local farms. On our way back to Dubrovnik, we pay a visit to two family-run wineries. Tonight, we hold our farewell dinner at one of our favorite gastronomic restaurant, overlooking the old port of Dubrovnik and the imposingly impressive citadel.
The final morning is upon us and farewells must be said to this incredible place. The journey has taken us to some of the best places to visit in Croatia, although not all of them. Before making the decision for us to arrange your homeward-bound airport dropoff, take a moment to think if more luxurious vistas are on your agenda. Peruse our add-ons or have us design your very own extension to continue this voyage of culture and beauty. We will be more than happy to oblige, as we're not sure that Croatia is quite done confiding it to you.
