Art In Voyage offers travel insurance through several providers (CSA/GENERALI, SEVEN CORNERS, AXA, ALLIANTZ, BERSHIRE HATHAWAY) based on the guests need and requirements. When coverage is not offered in one state by certain providers, we will use a different one to ensure our guests have full coverage when deciding to purchase travel insurance. Coverage includes SARS and COVID-19 (when getting infected, not for cancelations related to fear of). Travel Insurance is an optional service that may be added upon making a reservation online (at the time of confirming your booking) or with one of our specialists. In some instances, it is included in your package. Coverage is activated once your eligibility has been determined and the premium paid.
It is important to note that, ultimately, your state of residence (or country for our international guests) and pre-existing conditions will determine eligibility for this plan. Should you not qualify for travel insurance, you will not be charged for it and an alternative will be provided.
While coverage may change from time to time, it is widely accepted that only the following reasons would be acceptable to activate the coverage and have a successful claim paid out:
It is important to note that changing your mind by fear of something happening. Known events (events that have widely made the news) are not covered if you purchase the policy AFTER the event becomes known.
Coverage may vary based on the provider. Art In Voyage will always make sure the highest pay-outs are selected
Important notes about CFAR:
The trip cancellation* benefit reimburses you for your prepaid and nonrefundable trip expenses if you cannot take your trip for a covered reason.
So, yes, you can cancel your trip if you become sick with COVID-19 before your trip if:
Please note the ordinary meaning of the term “quarantine” is strict medical isolation imposed by a recognized government authority, their authorized deputies, or a physician to prevent the spread of disease. An order is not considered to impose strict medical isolation unless the order requires you to be confined 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
In addition, if the government of a destination where you are scheduled to arrive is requiring all similarly situated travelers to the destination to be quarantined (as described above) for a period of time upon arrival, you may be eligible for Trip Cancellation coverage — provided the quarantine you would face is in effect within 14 days of your scheduled departure date. You must cancel your trip during this 14-day period prior to your scheduled departure date. If you cancel your trip more than 14 days prior to the trip, there is no Trip Cancellation coverage due to quarantine at an intended destination.
Fear of travel is not a covered reason, so you cannot cancel your trip in this case and receive payment for your trip expenses.
You can, however, buy optional Cancel for any Reason (CFAR).** With it, you can cancel your trip for absolutely any reason you wish!
How does CFAR work?
Note that CFAR may not be purchased independently from the travel insurance. It is an add-on to our plan, not a plan on its own.
**CFAR is not available in all states. Our quick quote will display it as an option for you if it is available in your state.
Trip interruption coverage reimburses you for prepaid payments for unused non-refundable land or water travel arrangements and your additional transportation cost to:
Join your trip if you must leave after your scheduled departure date or travel via alternate travel arrangements; or
Rejoin your trip or transport you to your originally scheduled return destination if you must interrupt your trip after departure.
You can interrupt your trip if you become sick with COVID-19 on your trip if:
Please note the ordinary meaning of the term "quarantine" is a strict medical isolation imposed by a recognized government authority, their authorized deputies, or a physician to prevent the spread of a disease. An order is not considered to impose a strict medical isolation unless the order requires you to be confined 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
In addition, if you have already departed on your trip but have not yet entered a destination that requires all similarly situated travelers to be quarantined (as described above), there may be coverage for Trip Interruption — provided the quarantine you would face is in effect within 14 days of your scheduled arrival at the destination.
If you become sick with COVID-19 while traveling, it is covered the same as any other type of sickness. That means it will be treated the same way as an illness you might have, like the flu, for example.
Additionally, if you require an Emergency Medical Evacuation or Medical Repatriation, it would be covered in the same way those coverages apply to other sicknesses.
