The wine journey commences in the stunning Beaujolais region, where guests are seamlessly transferred from Lyon. Upon reaching our property, a centuries-old fortress adorned with the French art de Vivre overlooking the Beaujolais vineyards, our Art In Voyage hosts extend a warm welcome. Unwind in the tranquil gardens with a glass of bubbly before indulging in a revitalizing massage session. As the sun sets over the vineyards, savor Aperitif drinks and relish a magnificent Michelin-starred 4-course welcome dinner, expertly paired with some of the region's finest wines.
Embark on an extraordinary wine adventure on your initial day in Beaujolais, immersing yourself in two of the region's finest wines meticulously selected by Katie and our local wine expert, Sebastien. Given the harvest season, specific winery names cannot be disclosed in advance; nevertheless, guests are guaranteed distinctive and unforgettable experiences at some of the region's premier estates. To break between these two tastings, a delightful lunch will be served in a small Beaujolais village, where modern twists meet traditional cuisine. The evening will be at leisure with dinner recommendations provided by your host.
Following a leisurely morning (consider exploring the nearby vineyards and villages on a bike ride), we set out for a culinary tour of Old Lyon. Along the journey, we visit local food artisans, charming fresh markets, and even a chocolate maker. Upon our return, indulge in a distinctive dinner experience at the 1 Michelin-starred Paul Bocuse Institute training restaurant, Saisons. The meal will be complemented by delightful wines thoughtfully curated by Katie and their sommelier.
Moving on from Beaujolais, our adventure unfolds in the enchanting landscapes of Burgundy. Pausing in the Macon wine region, Katie has curated an exclusive visit to a charming small estate, which sits on both Beaujolais and Burgundy DOCs, and renowned for its exceptional wines. Following an insightful tour and tasting experience, we make our way to Beaune where we enjoy a casual lunch on the main square before making our way under the city's streets for our next wine adventure. Tonight, dinner is served at our property's Michelin-starred restaurant.
Internationally celebrated, Burgundy wines hold global acclaim, with the region's "Climats," small vineyard parcels, now honored as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today promises another immersive full-day wine expedition, carefully curated by Katie to showcase two splendid properties in the Cote de Nuits area. A fulfilling experience awaits, complemented by a delectable lunch served at one of the local eateries. As the day concludes, dinner offers a leisurely opportunity to explore and savor the local culinary scene in Beaune.
Sundays in France are a day of rest, prompting a pause in our remarkable wine adventure. Today includes a visit to Dijon, celebrated for its mustard and gingerbread traditions. Guided by our private guide, explore Burgundy's capital, uncovering its history and delectable specialties. The afternoon back at the property offers leisure, whether through spa indulgence, a stroll in Beaune, or a leisurely vineyard bike ride. As the evening descends, Michelin-starred Charlemagne beckons—a charming restaurant with a panoramic view of Corton DOC's vineyards. Chef Laurent Peugeot welcomes us for a memorable culinary experience, paired with wines curated by Katie and the Chef.
This morning, after another lovely breakfast at the property, we make our way to explore the Meursault and Montrachet regions of Burgundy today, renowned for its exquisite whites and exceptional reds. Our day of tastings is punctuated by a delightful lunch at the remarkable "Le Montrachet" restaurant, featuring local wine pairings. Another winery and private tasting ensues. For the evening, enjoy a leisurely dinner either at the property or in the charming town of Beaune, providing a perfect conclusion to your day of culinary and vinous exploration.
Concluding the Beaujolais and Burgundy wine adventure, we wrap up with a final breakfast and a private transfer to Lyon. Mikael and Katie were both accommodating to all our particular needs. Our two accommodations; a 13th century castle and a 12th Century Abbaye were both comfortable and different experiences. Our massage after our arrival was a welcoming extra. Katie Barratt AKA as Katie the Wine Fairy is not only wine knowledgeable but a warm, funny and engaging personality. Mikael is the consummate host on these journeys. He visited many pharmacies to purchase medications for me to address the cold I seemed to have contracted while traveling. Freshly back from a Burgundy & Beaujolais experience with Mikael and his local wine experts. We learned so much about French wine, topped by incredible culinary feasts. Our day-to-day itinerary may, from time to time and prior to departure, need to be altered or slightly modified to address possible unforeseen logistical and weather challenges. In such rare instances, Art In Voyage guarantees delivery of the content of the itinerary yet, in a different order.
All listed retreats (hotels, villas, and barges) are, at times, subject to changes. In such rare instances, similar or higher standards will be upheld.
Travel insurance, once purchased, goes into effect upon payment of the premium. You have 15 days from that date to cancel it (providing no claims have been filed or initiated during that period). Beyond 15 days, it becomes non-refundable/non-changeable/non-transferrable.
In case of a cancelation at more than 90 days prior to departure, your deposit will be returned minus a $500 per person administrative fee.
In case of a cancelation within the penalty period: Find a replacement at least 30 days prior to departure and your journey will be fully refunded, minus a $500 per person administrative fee.
