Art In Voyage takes you Beyond Travel on this Culinary Journey of South Africa. Did you know that the country boasts one of the best cuisines and wines in the world? On this culinary journey, both our Executive Chef Kevin Fonzo and our Wine Expert, Katie Barratt (Wine Fairy) take you on a true feast of the senses. In Cape Town, we have designed a balanced program of culture, history, and culinary delights. The melting pot of cultures in Cape Town has culminated into a flavorful and diverse food scene, for your pleasure.
In the Cape Winelands, you will discover a wine industry to be reckoned with. South Africa has some of the oldest estates in the world, many starting productions as far back as 1659.
The epic conclusion of your journey takes place in the Kruger National Park where you will embark on an authentic African safari experience. There, the wildlife roams freely over land covering the same surface area as Belgium.
After being transported to our beautiful property by our private driver, unpack and relax. From our villa, views of Table Mountain, Lions Head, and the pristine beaches of Camps Bay will have you falling for Cape Town before you know it. Late afternoon, we enjoy an African sunset from the rooftop of the iconic Silo Hotel. A 4-course tasting dinner, with wine pairings in a private and eclectic private dining room, will end the evening.
This morning, we enjoy a private tour of Bo Kaap, the ancient Muslim slave district of Cape town, world-renowned for its colorful homes. After listening to a local talk about their history, we continue to the spice market and end this journey through time at the home of a local. Here, we are introduced to Cape Malay cuisine with a fun and engaging cooking class. This afternoon, we pay a visit to the famed Table mountain, reached by cable car. Meanwhile, our Chef has been hard at work preparing a mouth-watering dinner, at the villa, infused with local flavors.
After a slow start of the morning and a lovely traditional breakfast, we head to the Oranjezicht City Farm Market where you are introduced to an incredible array of food and artisanal specialties. We follow with another eclectic market, at the Biscuit Mill, in Woodstock. There, we enjoy a gin tasting experience followed by the Woodstock brewery. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight, join your hosts at one of our favorite local eateries on Kloof Street for dinner, paired with local wines.
A visit to Cape Town would not be complete without a day traveling around the Peninsula for some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in the world. Our journey starts with a stop at the Cape of Good Hope, said to be the most southern point in Africa. We then continue to the Penguin colony, where we have the opportunity to walk amongst them. We end the day in the eclectic town of Kalk Bay before heading back to our villa where our Chef is preparing yet another incredible dining experience. Guests are invited to join, with a glass of bubbly, and participate in the making of dinner. In the meantime, the Wine Fairy prepares a selection of lovely wines to be enjoyed during dinner.
This morning, we must bid farewell to Cape Town. A mere one-hour scenic drive takes us to our next destination, the Winelands of the Western Cape. On the way, we stop at a local wine estate where we have lunch before visiting our next winery for the day, which is home to some of the world's best brandy production. Our long yet exciting day ends at our villa in Franschhoek, a quaint and historic town surrounded by centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. Dinner will be served at the villa - our home for three nights, where our Chef takes over the kitchen.
Today, we embark on another full day of discovering more of the Cape Winelands. The Wine Fairy will select up to three wineries based on our guests' preferences and we will explore their history in-depth as well as the estates. Tastings all day. Our day will end with a lovely and memorable dinner in town.
After a morning at leisure and lunch in Franschhoek, guests have the option to enjoy the property and its grounds, or elect to enjoy some of the activities and experiences around the Cape Winelands. From horse riding through the vineyard to biking the areas' scenic hills, from enjoying some time shopping for artisanal art in Franschhoek to, why not, more wine tasting with your expert, there is plenty to do. Tonight, we enjoy a dinner carefully crafted by Chef Fonzo.
This morning, you bid farewell to your hosts and the Western Cape province. Your journey to the Kruger National Park now begins. After a direct flight to Kruger, our local team and friendly hosts greet and whisk you away to your luxury tented lodge for the next three nights. Your game drive will litteraly starts as you transfer to the lodge, and drive through the park. After freshening up, join your ranger for an evening game drive, followed by sundowners and a 3-course safari-inspired dinner.
Enjoy two game drives today in the highly acclaimed Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, and one of the world's largest and most impressive game reserves. Our private guide will lead us deep into the African bushveld for intimate wildlife encounters. Optional activities including, walking safaris and massages will be on offer.
Today, our guide will take us on two final game drives to end off the African safari part of this journey. We celebrate our final evening in the Kruger National Park with an authentic "farewell to the bush" dinner...beneath the stars, surrounded by the very wildlife guests have been chasing for the past few days.
This afternoon, you are transferred to the local airport where you will catch a flight to your internal gateway. Why not extend to the majestic Victoria Falls bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe? Our day-to-day itinerary may, from time to time and prior to departure, need to be altered or slightly modified to address possible unforeseen logistical and weather challenges. In such rare instances, Art In Voyage guarantees delivery of the content of the itinerary yet, in a different order.
All listed retreats (hotels, villas, and barges) are, at times, subject to changes. In such rare instances, similar or higher standards will be upheld.
Travel insurance, once purchased, goes into effect upon payment of the premium. You have 15 days from that date to cancel it (providing no claims have been filed or initiated during that period). Beyond 15 days, it becomes non-refundable/non-changeable/non-transferrable.
In case of a cancelation at more than 90 days prior to departure, your deposit will be returned minus a $250 per person administrative fee.
In case of a cancelation within the penalty period: Find a replacement at least 30 days prior to departure and your journey will be fully refunded, minus a $250 per person administrative fee.
