On arrival in Papeete, you are met and greeted at the airport the Polynesian way (should you already be on the island, we will make arrangements to pick you up at your hotel, and give you the same treatment). You then board a short flight to Raiatea where our host awaits. There, settle aboard, enjoy a welcome lunch and bubbly, and get comfortable as we set sail for Opoa Bay and its surrounding lands steeped in history. The lagoon was once a major staging area for long-distance Polynesian voyages that led to the settlement of New Zealand and the establishment of the Maori. Tonight, our welcome dinner is traditional, simple yet festive, and served on the catamaran
After a lovely breakfast and morning swim in the lagoon, we depart for Huanine. The crossing takes us into open seas and outside the protection offered by lagoons and makes for the perfect time to catch up on reading, or simply join friends on the top deck to learn how to sail with our captain. On arrival, we enjoy a beautiful sunset on a private beach followed by dinner around a bonefire.
This morning, after some early kayaking or snorkeling, we are met by our local guide. From there, we make our way to uncover some of the most ancient traditions in French Polynesia. Our journey first takes us to a Vanilla farm where we learn and ancestral traditions that have made the local fruit world-famous. We then board a small traditional outrigger for the most incredible local coral gardens where some exceptional snorkeling awaits. We end our journey with a traditional picnic on a private motu (small island). The rest of the afternoon and evening is spent enjoying sailing into the sunset for our last night in Huahine.
This morning, we start our journey towards Raiatea and Taha'a, which will take about 4 hours. On arrival, we enjoy lunch in the lagoon before we take a swim with the rays, blacktip sharks, and stingrays. We continue our journey towards Pari Pari, the award-winning Rum distillery on the island, and close the day with a visit to the local Pearl farm where you are showed the process of the black pearl culture. We anchor off the stunning Taha'a Private Island Resort & Spa.
Dinner is served on board.
Waking up to the sight of incredible white sand beaches and blue lagoons takes on a whole new definition. After a morning enjoying one of the most incredible coral gardens in French Polynesia, and lunch on board, we are expected at the Taha'a Private island for an afternoon of pampering where a spa treatment awaits. Tonight, adorn your best island casual white attire for the property's beach restaurant, privatized for the occasion, awaits to deliver a traditional dinner, dances, and music. Overnight on board, in Taha’a lagoon.
This morning must say our goodbyes to our crew. We are transferred to the airport where we catch a short direct flight to Bora Bora. On arrival, our private speedboat awaits to whisks us to our home for the next two nights, the Sofitel Private Island Bora Bora.
Settle in your overwater bungalow, treat yourself to a spa, enjoy some of the property's activities or simply relax on the beach.
Evening and dinner is at leisure (own account)
Enjoy another day at leisure. Pick from one of the many activities we have included in your package (from ATV across the main island to jet skiing the lagoon or sailing). Tonight, we host our farewell dinner on the beach, once again enjoying local cuisine, dances and music.
With a late evening departure, enjoy a full extra day at the property. Late afternoon, you are transferred to the Bora Bora airport for a short flight to Papeete where you catch your flight home You may also decide to extend your Polynesian adventure by venturing out to the Marquesas islands, or the atolls of Tuamotu and their famous hammerhead sharks or pink sand beaches. Whatever it might be, the Art In Voyage Travel Experts would be delighted to customize an extension to this epic journey.
Our day-to-day itinerary may, from time to time and prior to departure, need to be altered or slightly modified to address possible unforeseen logistical and weather challenges. In such rare instances, Art In Voyage guarantees delivery of the content of the itinerary yet, in a different order.
All listed retreats (hotels, villas, and barges) are, at times, subject to changes. In such rare instances, similar or higher standards will be upheld.
In case of a cancelation at more than 90 days prior to departure, your deposit will be returned minus a $500 per person administrative fee.
