Villa Domus Olivae

Ragusa (Sicily)

By The Thinking Traveller

As its name might suggest, Domus Olivae sits at the center of an organic olive estate. The spacious, luxuriously appointed accommodation wraps around a beautiful stone-flagged courtyard and flows out onto manicured lawned gardens, where, in pride of place, sits the stunning lava-stone pool. Domus Olivae sits amidst an extensive olive estate below the historic, charming hill-top town of Chiaramonte Gulfi in the southeast of Sicily, and about 20km (as the crow flies) from the fabulous sandy beaches that line the coast from Scoglitti down to Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa. This is Montalbano country and if you're a fan of the Inspector's work, you'll find the stunning sea and landscapes very familiar.
An easy drive away is gorgeous Ragusa, a gastronomic hub with several Michelin-starred restaurants and one of a series of stunning baroque towns, including Modica, Scicli and Noto, that form the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Val di Noto.
