Partake in our sunset 4x4 expedition of Mount Etna as well as an authentic truffle hunt. Take part in a cooking class with our local Nona, and follow it up with a walk traveling back in time as you explore the streets of Palermo and Syracuse. Arriving in Palermo, you will be greeted by a private driver and whisked away to your home for tonight. On arrival, your hosts will welcome you and give you time to get settled in. Later, join us for welcome cocktails with splendid views of the Mediterranean sea. Our welcome dinner is hosted at the property, paired with lovely wine.
After breakfast, you depart on a Food and Market tour of Palermo, guided by a local Sicilian. You will uncover the secrets of Sicilian cuisine, and taste some of the most authentic street food specialties, such as arancini and sfincione. After meeting some of the best artisans, we make our way to our next home near Ragussa. Our farmhouse built at the end of the 18th century by Romualdo Mattia Lorefice Platamone, the 7th baron of Mortilla, will be home for 6 nights. Get settled in and relax before tonight's welcome dinner at the property, carefully prepared by Chef Fonzo, and paired with wines of the region.
After breakfast, join Chef Fonzo at a nearby market to gather fresh ingredients for your cooking class in the afternoon. Witness how Chef Fonzo interacts with the local producers to get the best ingredients for our cooking class. Alternatively, have a morning at leisure next to the swimming pool, or enjoy a tasting of the property's olive oil. We then join Chef Fonzo for a cooking class, followed by a lovely lunch. In the late afternoon, indulge in a relaxing massage and enjoy time at leisure. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Fonzo and served at the property with wines of the region.
After breakfast, we depart on a scenic drive to the city of Syracuse. A local guide will lead the way to sites such as the Roman Amphitheater, the Teatro Greco, and the Orecchio di Dionisio. Your tour will end at a local trattoria for a lovely lunch seaside. After lunch, explore Syracuse on your own before we depart home to relax. Tonight, we make our way to the town of Ragusa for an incredible dining experience at the famed Michelin-starred Locanda Don Serafino. Dinner will be paired with wines selected by their sommerlier.
Enjoy a morning at leisure at the property. Later this morning, we make our way to Murgo Winery, situated at the foot of Mount Etna, an active volcano. There, we delight in a lovely lunch and wine tasting. The volcanic clay creates the perfect conditions for the vines, and here, wine has been produced for more than 3,500 years. We then board our 4x4 for a drive up an ancient lava flow. Enjoy breathtaking scenery at the famous “Velle del Bove’. As evening falls, your guide will lead you to the perfect spot where we fully enjoy the magnificent Etna sunset with bubbly, cold cuts and cheeses. At home, a lighter dinner awaits.
After breakfast, we make our way to Modica, one of the most picturesque towns in all of Sicily. You will get the opportunity to walk through the elegant streets, visit Doumo, and take pictures of the spectacular buildings with our private guide. Enjoy lunch at leisure, before we make our way back home. On the way, we stop at one of our favorite local wineries for a tour, and a tasting. Tonight, Chef Fonzo will once again prepare a lovely Sicilian-inspired dinner, under the stars and paired with wines of the region.
This morning, why not enjoy breakfast in the gardens? We then make our way to a local farm for truffle hunting, wine tasting, and a truffle-based lunch. On our way home, we make one more stop: a local cheese farm where you enjoy a tasting. Tonight, dinner is served at the property, prepared by Chef Fonzo, and paired with local wines.
Today, our last day in Sicily is spent at leisure (lunch at the property will be available). However, our Guest Experience experts are standing by to assist with the booking of additional tours & activities. Why not have us rent a boat for the afternoon, or making int it a full day visiting Taormina? Tonight, we will celebrate the end of a lovely journey exploring all the flavors Sicily has to offer, with Chef Fonzo and our local Nona. This farewell dinner is paired with some of your favorite wines of the region.
All good things must come to an end! We enjoy one last breakfast before departing for the airport. Not ready to go home? Take your loved one to Santorini for a romantic ending to this vacation, or fly out to the beautiful island of Malta where you step back into history. Wanting to see more of Sicily?
